La marcatezza locale del componente “Occhio” nei fraseologismi somatici: un’analisi contrastiva tra Russo e Italiano
Keywords:
somatic idioms; local markedness; corpus-based; grammatical numberAbstract
In the idiom variation research, the grammatical category of number is considered as a flexibility dimension. These studies, however, rarely offer a cross-linguistic perspective and they do not consider the condition of local markedness of the grammatical number. This condition is evident in the components of somatic idioms, which are abundantly studied in contrastive analyses. Therefore, the present corpus-based study aimed to analyse idiomatic variation with regard to the locally marked somatic component “eye” in Italian and Russian. Specifically, somatic idioms in the singular and plural forms were extracted from the selected phraseological dictionaries for the two languages. For each somatic idiom, a quantitative and qualitative analysis on the morphological variants was conducted on the basis of the reference corpora. The availability of variants and their contexts showed that there is no total correspondence between the two grammatical forms.
